Reba McEntire came in last place in a chili cookoff that was judged by Rex Linn. Despite being an adorable couple in country music, they don't go easy on each other when competing in cook-off contests.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal relationship, McEntire did not receive any special treatment during the judging.
McEntire actually finished in last place. As a consolation prize, she received a trophy shaped like a chili pepper going down a toilet.
Always willing to have fun, McEntire posted a video on her social media of her unsuccessful cooking competition, showing her gracefully accepting the last place position.
The complete video below depicts the entire event, including some additional entertaining details. For instance, country singer Terri Clark participated and ended up in second place.
In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her previous experience at a chili cookoff where things didn't go as planned. She acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
"I accidentally forgot to add any spices," she confesses. "But I added chili powder and hatch green chilis, thinking it would be enough. It was a recipe from Texas that I was really looking forward to trying."
Even though Linn's relationship with McEntire didn't prevent her from being in last place, McEntire believes that being her girlfriend may have slightly softened the disappointment when the judges announced the results.
"Rex, one of the judges, approached me and quietly delivered the news. He expressed his regret and mentioned that I did not win. I asked him if he was going to reveal the winner, to which he responded that it was not me."
Then he gave me the trophy, which turned out to be a chili pepper inside a toilet. So I decided to reciprocate by doing the same.
Without joking, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and the reasons it is successful. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns. However, their romantic relationship did not begin until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation, McEntire mentioned to Rex that she wondered why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason might have been her previous marriage. McEntire described Rex as being energetic and fun, while she has become more laid back. She believes that they have come together at the perfect time in their lives.
Following this, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy series that will bring her back together with some of the crew members from her popular show, Reba.
