Country music star Reba McEntire came in last place in a chili cookoff that was judged by her partner, actor Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple, they don't show each other any mercy when it comes to competing in cook-off contests.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal relationship, McEntire did not receive any special treatment during the judging process.
McEntire actually finished in last place. As a result, she was awarded a humorous trophy consisting of a chili pepper going down a toilet.
Always a good sport, McEntire posted a video on her social media of her unsuccessful cookoff experience, which showed her gracefully accepting coming in last place.
The entire video below captures the entire event, along with some additional enjoyable moments. One of the highlights was when country singer Terri Clark participated and came in second place.
In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience at a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she knows what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add the spices, but she tried to make up for it by adding chili powder and hatch green chilis, thinking it would still turn out well. She was following a recipe from Texas and was really enthusiastic about it.
Despite being Linn's girlfriend, it did not help her avoid finishing in last place. However, McEntire believes that her relationship with Linn may have lessened the impact when the judges announced the results.
"Rex, a judge, approached me and quietly shared the news. He expressed his regret and I asked if he would reveal the winner. He responded by indicating that it was not me."
"He gave me the award, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I made a joke about it," McEntire explained further.
Putting humor aside, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and the reasons behind its success. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns alongside Kenny Rogers. However, their romantic relationship did not begin until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to Narvel Blackstock, her husband of many years, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, McEntire wondered why they hadn't connected earlier. Rex mentioned that one reason could be because McEntire was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as lively and energetic, while she has become more relaxed. She believes that they have crossed paths at the perfect moment in their lives.
Following that, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy series that will bring her back together with some of the crew from her popular show, Reba.
