Country music star Reba McEntire didn't fare well in a recent chili cookoff competition, where her partner Rex Linn was one of the judges. Despite being a cute couple, they didn't show each other any favoritism during the contest.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal connection, it did not influence the outcome of the judging process in any way.
McEntire actually finished in last place during the competition. As a consolation prize, she received a trophy that depicted a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
Despite not winning, McEntire showed good sportsmanship by posting a video on social media of her unsuccessful attempt at a cookoff. The video included a moment where she gracefully accepted finishing in last place.
The complete video shows the entire event, including some additional interesting details. Country singer Terri Clark participated and came in second place.
In a recent online appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience in a chili cookoff and confessed that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add any spices to the dish she was making. Despite this, she added chili powder and hatch green chilis, thinking it would be enough. She was following a recipe from Texas and was really looking forward to how it would turn out.
Even though Linn's girlfriend status didn't prevent her from finishing in last place, McEntire believes that being in a relationship likely helped soften the disappointment when the judges announced the results.
Rex, one of the judges, approached me and quietly revealed the news. He expressed his regret and then mentioned that I did not win the competition.
Then he gave me the award, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I made a joke about it.
Setting aside the humor, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and the reasons behind its success. They have been acquainted for a long time, having first met in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns starring Kenny Rogers. However, their romantic relationship didn't begin until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation, McEntire mentioned a question she had asked Rex about why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex pointed out that one factor could have been her previous marriage. McEntire described Rex as fun and energetic while she has become more relaxed. She believes that they have crossed paths at the perfect moment in their lives.
Following this, McEntire will be going to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy show that will bring her back together with some of the people who were involved in her popular TV show, Reba.
