Country music star Reba McEntire came in last place in a chili cookoff that was judged by her partner, actor Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple, they didn't show each other any mercy in the competition.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal relationship, it did not influence the judging process in any way.
McEntire actually finished in last place during the competition. As a result, she was given a humorous trophy as a consolation prize: a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
Despite not winning, McEntire demonstrated good sportsmanship by posting a video on social media of her cookoff experience, which showed her gracefully accepting her last place finish.
The entire video below depicts the entire event, with some additional enjoyable details as well. Country singer Terri Clark also participated in the competition and finished in second place.
On a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience at a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she has a strong understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add any spices to the dish she was making. Even though she added chili powder and hatch green chilis, she was following a Texas recipe and thought it would still turn out well.
Despite being in a relationship with Linn, it did not prevent her from being in last place. However, McEntire believes that being Linn's girlfriend may have lessened the impact when the judges announced the results.
During the competition, Rex, one of the judges, approached me and quietly informed me of the results. He expressed his regret and mentioned that I was not the winner.
"He gave me the trophy, which turned out to be a chili pepper inside a toilet. So, I made one of my own," McEntire added.
Putting jokes aside, McEntire discussed her strong connection with Linn and why their relationship is successful. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns. However, they didn't realize their romantic feelings for each other until they reconnected in 2020. During this time, McEntire was married to her former husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, McEntire pondered why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex pointed out that McEntire had been married previously, which may have been a factor. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while noting that she has become more mellow over time. She believes they have crossed paths at the perfect moment in their lives.
Following that, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy series that will involve collaborating with some of the individuals who were part of her popular TV show, Reba.
