Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have completed their divorce process with the official approval of a judge.
Based on legal papers obtained by People magazine, the two country singers officially ended their relationship in Nashville on Tuesday (Jan. 30). This happened shortly after they came to an agreement on how to divide their property and support their children in early January.
The former partners have come to an agreement regarding financial support for their child. As stated in the recently filed documents, Morris will provide $2,100 per month to Hurd, and they will share custody of their son. They have also agreed to divide their assets according to the prenuptial agreement and settlement terms.
Morris and Hurd have not discussed their breakup much on social media. Morris mentioned during an interview on the Howard Stern Show in late 2023 that she was not considering dating again at the moment.
She mentioned that she wants the divorce process to be finalized soon, but she is too preoccupied with other things at the moment. She explained that she has been focusing on writing a lot recently, and for her, songwriting has been a way of expressing her emotions and experiences, almost like a form of dating.
What is the story behind Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd's meeting?
Morris and Hurd were working together as songwriters in 2013 when they started a romantic relationship. They continued to collaborate and eventually got engaged in 2017, getting married the following year. Over the course of the decade, they frequently performed together on stage, often singing their popular duet "Chasing After You."
Both singers used to be under contract with Sony Music Nashville, but before their divorce, Morris revealed plans to shift away from traditional country music and release music through the label's New York branch. Hurd's name is no longer found on Sony Music Nashville's website.
