The divorce of Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd has been officially approved by a judge.
Based on legal papers obtained by People magazine, the two country music singers officially ended their relationship in Nashville on Tuesday (Jan. 30), just a few weeks after coming to an agreement on how to divide their property and handle child support in early January.
The former partners have reached an agreement on how child support will be handled. As stated in the recent legal documents, Morris will provide $2,100 per month to Hurd, and they will share custody of their child. They have also decided to divide their assets according to the prenuptial agreement and settlement terms.
Both Morris and Hurd have not shared many details about their split on social media. However, Morris mentioned during an interview on the Howard Stern Show in late 2023 that she was not considering dating again at that time.
She mentioned that she would prefer for the divorce process to conclude soon, as she is currently preoccupied with other things. Writing a lot has been her way of dealing with emotions and relationships, almost like a form of dating for her.
What was the story behind Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd's meeting?
Morris and Hurd started out as collaborators in songwriting in 2013 and eventually developed a romantic relationship. They continued to work together and eventually got engaged in 2017, getting married the following year. Over the years, they frequently performed together on stage, often singing their popular duet "Chasing After You."
Both singers used to have contracts with Sony Music Nashville. However, Morris decided to leave mainstream country music and release music on the label's New York imprint before filing for divorce. Hurd's name is no longer on SMN's website.
