Inside Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd’s Divorce: Child Support, Property Division, and Moving On

  • by

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have completed the legal process of ending their marriage, as a judge has given their divorce final approval.

Based on legal papers obtained by People magazine, the two country singers officially ended their relationship in Nashville on Tuesday (Jan. 30), shortly after coming to an agreement on dividing property and child support in early January.

The former partners have come to an agreement on how to handle child support. As outlined in the documents submitted recently, Morris will provide $2,100 per month to Hurd and they will share custody of their son. They have also agreed to divide assets according to the prenuptial agreement and settlement terms.

Morris and Hurd have not discussed their breakup much on social media. Morris mentioned during a late 2023 interview on the Howard Stern Show that she was not ready to start dating again.

She expressed that she wants the divorce process to be completed soon because she is currently focused on other things and doesn't have the mental capacity to deal with it. She mentioned that she is writing a lot at the moment, and for her, writing songs is a way of expressing herself and her emotions, similar to how she would approach dating.

What was the story behind Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd's first meeting?

Morris and Hurd started writing songs together in 2013 and later developed a romantic relationship. They continued to work together on music and eventually got engaged in 2017, getting married a year later. Over the years, they often performed on stage together, frequently singing their hit duet "Chasing After You."

Both singers were signed to Sony Music Nashville before, but Morris decided to move away from mainstream country music and release her music on the label's New York imprint. Following this decision, Hurd is no longer included on SMN's website.
