Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Being Pre-Diabetic Before Weight Loss Journey

  • by

During a recent episode of her show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was at risk of developing diabetes before she decided to lose weight. However, she did not make the decision to lose weight right away.

Clarkson shared with her guest, Kevin James, that she was informed she was at risk of developing diabetes. She admitted that she wasn't surprised by the news, as she acknowledged she was slightly overweight.

"They told me I was pre-diabetic, just on the edge of becoming diabetic. At first, I didn't take it seriously and thought I wasn't actually there yet," she explains with a chuckle. "But after two years, I finally decided to take action and address the issue."

Recently, Clarkson discussed her weight loss, mentioning that she lost weight by following her doctor's advice. She also attributed her healthier habits, both mentally and physically, to her move to New York City.

She expressed her dissatisfaction with living in Los Angeles for a long period of time, stating that she was in need of a new beginning.

Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also struggling. The family likes to stay active by walking around the city and taking their dogs to the park.

She credits her weight loss to her diet, mentioning that she consumes a balanced mix of foods and follows a protein-rich diet most of the time, which she finds beneficial for her health.

"As someone from Texas, I enjoy eating meat – my apologies to any vegetarians out there!" Clarkson humorously remarked.

Following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, the singer made the decision to move to New York and also relocate her TV show there. The divorce was officially completed in early 2022.
