Exploring the Enhanced Features of Acustica Audio’s Amber 4 Ultra Plug-In Suite: A Detailed Review

  • by

You have arrived at the Amber 4 Ultra plug-in suite created by Acustica Audio.

Acustica Audio has released a new version of their popular Amber 4 plug-in suite called Amber 4 Ultra. This new version incorporates their Hyper technology and Aria engine to provide even better audio quality and graphics. It includes faithful models of Class A gear such as EQs, a compressor, and a preamp.

The suite includes two EQ plug-ins called Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. Both have the same controls, but the Stereo version has separate settings for each channel. Each plug-in has four bands with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width setting, and the low- and high-frequency bands have a filter type control that can switch between peak and shelf filters.

Amber 4 Ultra offers a continuous control function that allows users to focus on mid, left/right, and side signals. On the other hand, Amber 4 Stereo Ultra allows for separate control of the left/mid and right/side channels. Acustica claims that the former is a highly effective, low-noise parametric EQ in the digital realm, while the latter is seen as one of the most sonically transparent EQ choices in their lineup.

The Amber 4 Comp Ultra emulates a Class-A opto compressor using Hyper technology to provide a clear dynamics processor. It includes typical compressor settings as well as added features like side-chain filtering, adjustable stereo linking, controls for blending mid, left/right, and side signals, and a built-in parallel compression function.

The Amber 4 Pre Ultra offers a variety of Class A preamp designs, including both solid-state and valve-based options. Each design comes with a set of controls for input and output levels, as well as options for adjusting the Preamp (gain) and Filter (high-pass) settings.

The updated Aira engine allows each plug-in to have dynamic and real-time metering displays, along with the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm. Additionally, the plug-ins have lower CPU usage than before.

System Requirements

Amber 4 Ultra can be used on computers with Windows 10 or 11, and on Macs with macOS 10.15 or newer. The plug-in versions available are VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX.

As of now, the Amber 4 Ultra is currently available and is being sold at a special price of €89 until February 26, 2024. After this date, the price will increase to €209.
