According to insiders, Variety has reported that Chapman will be performing "Fast Car" with Luke Combs. This song, originally a hit for Chapman in the late 1980s, tells the story of a couple trying to break free from poverty. In 2023, Combs included a cover of the song on his album Gettin' Old, which helped it reach the top of the country radio charts.
If Chapman decides to perform at the Grammys, it will be unexpected and probably a highlight of the night. Sources say she has only appeared on camera three times since 2009, when she finished her last tour.
Combs has openly expressed his desire to perform "Fast Car" with the original songwriter and recording artist. Despite his cover of the song reaching No. 1 in July, his team stated that he currently has no scheduled performances with Chapman. However, they mentioned that he would be thrilled if the opportunity to perform with her ever came up.
Although she has not been very public about it, Chapman has made a few statements in support of Combs' success with his version of "Fast Car".
