  • by

During a recent episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was informed she was at risk of developing diabetes before she decided to lose weight. However, she did not start losing weight right away.

"I found out that I was at risk for diabetes. That's basically what happened," Clarkson explains to her guest, actor Kevin James. "I wasn't surprised. I was just slightly above my ideal weight."

"They told me that I was at risk for developing diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first. It took me two years to finally decide to take action."

Recently, Clarkson discussed her weight loss and mentioned that she lost weight by following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that moving to New York City helped her develop healthier habits for both her mental and physical well-being.

She expressed her dissatisfaction with living in Los Angeles for a long time, stating that she was in need of a new beginning.

Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also not thriving there. The family likes staying active by taking advantage of the city's walkability and bringing their dogs to the park.

She credits her weight loss to her diet, mentioning that she consumes a balanced and healthy mix of foods. She also mentioned that she follows a protein-rich diet most of the time, as it is beneficial for her overall health.

As someone from Texas, Clarkson humorously mentioned her preference for meat over vegetarian options.

After her divorce from Brandon Blackstock was finalized in early 2022, the singer made the decision to move and also moved her TV show to New York.
