Kelly Clarkson shared on her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, that she was informed she was at risk for developing diabetes before making the decision to lose weight. However, she did not take immediate action after receiving this diagnosis.
Clarkson explains to her guest on the show, Kevin James, that she was informed she was pre-diabetic. She wasn't surprised by the news, as she admitted to being slightly overweight.
"They told me that I was close to being diabetic, but I didn't take it seriously at first," she explains with a chuckle. "After waiting for two years, I finally decided to take action when I realized I needed to do something about it."
In the beginning of the month, Clarkson discussed her recent weight loss, mentioning that she lost weight by following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that moving to New York City helped her develop healthier habits for both her mental and physical well-being.
She mentioned that she had been feeling very unhappy in Los Angeles for a few years and felt the need for a new beginning.
Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also struggling. The family likes to stay active by walking around the city and taking their dogs to the park.
She credits her weight loss to her diet, stating that she consumes a balanced mix of foods and follows a protein diet most of the time because it works well for her.
Clarkson jokingly stated that she is a fan of meat because she is from Texas, and apologized to any vegetarians out there.
After going through a divorce from Brandon Blackstock that was finalized in early 2022, the singer made the decision to move and also moved her TV show to New York.
