Sugar Ray Singer Confirms Kid Rock’s “Get More Ass” Lyrics Were True: The Truth Behind the Decades-Old Boast

  • by

The lead singer of Sugar Ray has verified that Kid Rock was telling the truth in his lyrics about getting more attention from women than Mark McGrath.

The lyrics were taken from Rock's song "Cocky" released in 2001 on his album with the same title. In this part of the song, Rock refers to himself as Kid Rock from the old school and boasts about having more money than Matchbox Twenty and getting more attention from women than Mark McGrath.

The question that has been unanswered for over twenty years was finally addressed. It all began when Rock Feed took to social media to ask, "Did Kid Rock really have more romantic encounters than Mark McGrath?"

Shortly after that, well-known YouTuber Finn McKenty proposed that Mark McGrath should be the one to resolve the argument, and he also mentioned the Sugar Ray vocalist in his post.

McGrath responded to the question in a lighthearted manner, confirming that the person did rhyme "ass" with McGrath. This response was shared by the singer on X (formerly Twitter).

If you were curious, Matchbox Twenty has not responded to Rock's other statement. It would be intriguing to compare the financial success of both bands, as they have both been successful for four decades.
