  • by

Walmart is expanding its presence by adding more large stores and installing electric vehicle charging stations. Their goal is to increase the number of stores and improve existing locations.

According to CNBC, the company plans to construct or change over 150 "large-format" stores in the United States within the next five years. The Associated Press stated that Walmart has not opened any new stores in the last three years.

Images provided by Walmart showcase the design of their Supercenter for the upcoming "large-format" stores. The company has not disclosed the specific locations of these stores yet.

Walmart announced that they will be implementing their "Store of the Future" concept in certain locations, which will feature more displays and QR codes for customers to scan and access more information about products. The company was already in the process of renovating 650 locations to include this concept before the announcement.

According to Walmart's president and CEO John Furner, the investments made by the company in labor, supplies, and tax revenue amount to millions of dollars. These investments help benefit the communities where Walmart operates. This statement was released on Wednesday.

CNBC reported that the company chose not to disclose the price of the stores.

Walmart is planning to build new stores with sustainability in focus, incorporating energy-efficient lighting and equipment throughout the locations.

Aside from focusing on sustainability measures within its stores, Walmart is also working on improving its parking lot. They have announced intentions to install fast-charging stations for electric cars.

Walmart is in the process of creating a widespread network of fast-charging stations for affordable electric vehicles. The goal is to make owning an electric vehicle more convenient and accessible for both Walmart customers and employees.

According to CNBC, Walmart has over 4,600 stores in the United States and has a workforce of almost 1.6 million individuals.
