Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Being Pre-Diabetic Before Weight Loss: How She Found Motivation

  • by

During a recent episode of her show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was told she was at risk of developing diabetes before deciding to lose weight. However, she did not start losing weight right away.

Clarkson explained to her guest on the show, Kevin James, that she was informed that she was at risk for developing diabetes. She mentioned that she wasn't surprised by the news because she was slightly overweight.

"They told me that I was at risk for developing diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first. After two years, I finally decided to take action."

In a recent statement, Clarkson discussed her weight loss and attributed it to following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that relocating to New York City helped her adopt healthier habits for both her mind and body.

She expressed that she had been feeling discontent in Los Angeles for a few years and desired a new beginning.

Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also not thriving in their previous location. The family enjoys being active by taking advantage of the city's walkable areas and bringing their dogs to the park.

She believes that her weight loss is also due to her diet, saying that she consumes a balanced mix of foods and follows a protein-rich diet, which she finds beneficial for her overall health.

Clarkson jokingly mentioned that she enjoys eating meat because she is from Texas, apologizing to any vegetarians for her preference.

After her divorce from Brandon Blackstock was finalized in early 2022, the singer made the decision to move and also transferred her TV show to New York.
