Walmart is planning to expand its number of stores and improve some current locations.

According to CNBC, the company plans to either construct new or transform over 150 "large-format" stores in the United States within the next five years. The Associated Press noted that Walmart has not opened any new stores in the last three years.

Images shared by Walmart depict the Supercenter design for their upcoming "large-format" stores. The locations of these stores have not been disclosed by the company yet.

Walmart announced that they will be implementing their "Store of the Future" concept in certain locations, featuring more displays and QR codes for customers to scan for more information about products. The company was already in the process of renovating 650 locations to include this concept before making the announcement on Wednesday.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Walmart president and CEO John Furner highlighted the significant capital investment in labor, supplies, and tax revenue made by the company. These investments have positive impacts on the communities in which Walmart operates.

CNBC reported that the company did not disclose the price of the stores.

Walmart has revealed that their new stores will prioritize sustainability in their design. These locations will feature energy-efficient lighting and equipment to reduce their environmental impact.

Aside from focusing on sustainability initiatives within its stores, Walmart is also aiming to improve its parking lot. The company announced intentions to install fast-charging stations for electric cars.

Walmart is planning to create a network of electric vehicle fast-charging stations across the country to make it easier for Walmart customers and employees to own and use electric vehicles. This initiative aims to make EV ownership more convenient and accessible for everyone involved.

According to CNBC, Walmart has over 4,600 stores in the United States and provides jobs for almost 1.6 million individuals.
