Isbell's performance may have reminded some of Richie Sambora rather than Jon Bon Jovi, but he put on a great show, fully embodying the lyrics about facing a million people and rocking out with sincerity. While Isbell is known for his impressive singing ability, it was his guitar solo in his rendition of "Dead or Alive" that really captured the essence of an Eighties-style epic performance.
Jon Bon Jovi was honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year, following in the footsteps of previous recipients such as Joni Mitchell, Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton, and Bruce Springsteen. Despite recently losing his mother, Springsteen attended the event and even performed on stage with Bon Jovi. They sang a mix of Bon Jovi's country hit "Who Says You Can't Go Home" and Springsteen's "The Promised Land."
