Exploring Acustica Audio’s Amber 4 Ultra Plug-In Suite: A Comprehensive Review and Overview

  • by

This is the Amber 4 Ultra plug-in suite developed by Acustica Audio.

Acustica Audio has released a new version of their Amber 4 plug-in suite called Amber 4 Ultra, which incorporates their Hyper technology and Aria engine for improved performance. This updated suite includes accurate models of Class A equipment such as EQs, a compressor, and a preamp, all with enhanced visuals and better audio quality.

The suite includes two EQ plug-ins called Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. Both have the same controls, but the Stereo version has separate controls for each channel. Each plug-in has four bands with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width setting, and the low- and high-frequency bands have a filter type control for peak and shelf filters.

Amber 4 Ultra offers a control system that allows users to adjust mid, left/right, and side signals simultaneously, while Amber4 Stereo Ultra allows for separate control over the left/mid and right/side channels. Acustica claims that the former is a highly effective parametric EQ with minimal noise in the digital realm, and they assure that the latter is one of the most sonically transparent EQ choices in their lineup.

The Amber 4 Comp Ultra simulates a Class-A opto compressor using Hyper technology to provide a clear dynamics processor. It includes typical compressor controls, as well as extra features like side-chain filtering, adjustable stereo linking, a control for blending mid, left/right, and side signals, and built-in parallel compression.

The Amber 4 Pre Ultra offers a variety of preamp designs, including both solid-state and valve-based options. There are eight emulations to choose from, each with easy-to-use controls for input and output levels, as well as Preamp (gain) and Filter (high-pass) adjustments.

With the introduction of the new Aira engine, all the plug-ins now have the capability to display dynamic and real-time metering, as well as the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm. Additionally, they have lower CPU usage compared to the previous versions.

System Requirements

Amber 4 Ultra can be used on computers with Windows 10 or 11, and on Macs with macOS 10.15 or newer. It is compatible with VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in formats.

The Amber 4 Ultra is currently on sale for €89 until February 26, 2024, after which it will be priced at €209. It is available for purchase now.
