  • by

Walmart is planning to expand by adding more stores and enhancing some of their current locations. Additionally, they are also planning to install electric vehicle charging stations.

According to CNBC, the company plans to either construct new or renovate over 150 "big-box" stores in the United States within the next five years. The Associated Press noted that Walmart has not opened any new stores in the last three years.

Images provided by Walmart show the design of their Supercenter stores for the upcoming "large-format" locations. The specific cities where these stores will be located have not been disclosed by the company yet.

Walmart announced that their locations will feature the "Store of the Future" concept, which includes more displays and QR codes for customers to scan and access more product information. The company was already in the process of remodeling 650 locations to include this concept before making the announcement on Wednesday.

According to a statement released by Walmart president and CEO John Furner, the company's investments in labor, supplies, and tax revenue amount to millions of dollars and are beneficial to the communities where they operate.

CNBC reported that the company chose not to disclose the expenses associated with the stores.

Walmart has revealed that their new stores will prioritize sustainability in their design. These locations will feature energy-efficient lighting and equipment.

Apart from focusing on sustainability measures within its stores, Walmart is also planning to revamp its parking lot by installing fast-charging stations for electric cars.

Walmart is in the process of creating a network of affordable fast-charging stations for electric vehicles across the country. The goal is to make owning an electric vehicle more convenient and accessible for both Walmart customers and employees.

According to CNBC, Walmart has over 4,600 stores in the United States and has a workforce of almost 1.6 million employees.
