Lady A Reflects on Emotional First Grammy Win and Memorable Adele Moment

  • by

Lady A fondly remembers their first Grammy win, despite having won a total of seven Grammy Awards throughout their career. The band still gets emotional thinking about the moment they received their first Grammy in 2011.

Hillary Scott remembers the surreal experience of receiving a Grammy from Jennifer Lopez. The night was unforgettable and beyond anything she had ever experienced before.

After thirteen years, Scott still gets emotional when talking about his thoughts and feelings.

"I find it difficult to fully understand and come to terms with," she says. "I am struggling to find the right words to discuss it."

In that particular year, the band won the Song of the Year award for one of their most popular songs, "Need You Now."

"Need You Now" was a major hit that surpassed some of the most popular songs of the year in various music genres, such as Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me," Eminem and Rihanna's "Love the Way You Lie," Cee-Lo Green's "F–k You," and Ray LaMontagne's "Beg, Steal or Borrow."

At the awards ceremony, Lady A won awards for Best Country Album, Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, and Best Country Song.

The group still remembers more than just their individual accomplishments. When discussing their favorite Grammy memories, Scott shared a moment that left them all speechless.

"I remember when Adele began performing and there was a technical issue, she took control of the situation by restarting. She wasn't afraid to stop live TV and start over, showing professionalism and confidence in the face of a mistake."

Lady A talked about the various experiences they've had throughout their career on Taste of Country Nights, On Demand. You can listen to the complete interview without any edits right here.
