Acustica Audio has recently released a new version of their Amber 4 plug-in suite, called Amber 4 Ultra. This new version utilizes their Hyper technology and Aria engine to offer improved graphics and audio performance. It includes accurate models of Class A equipment such as EQs, compressors, and preamps.
The suite includes two EQ plug-ins, Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. Both plug-ins have the same set of controls, but the Stereo version has separate controls for each channel. Each plug-in has four bands with controls for frequency and gain. The low- and high-mid bands have a width parameter, and the low- and high-frequency bands have a control to switch between peak and shelf filter types.
Amber 4 Ultra offers a continuous control feature that allows users to adjust mid, left/right, and side signals individually. On the other hand, Amber 4 Stereo Ultra allows users to control the left/mid and right/side channels separately. Acustica claims that Amber 4 Ultra is one of the most powerful parametric EQs with low noise in the digital realm, while Amber 4 Stereo Ultra is touted as one of the most transparent EQ options for musical applications in their lineup.
The Amber 4 Comp Ultra emulates a Class-A opto compressor using Hyper technology to provide a clear dynamics processor. It includes standard compressor controls as well as features like side-chain filtering, adjustable stereo linking, a blend control for mid, left/right, and side signals, and built-in parallel compression.
The Amber 4 Pre Ultra includes eight emulations of Class A preamp designs, featuring both solid-state and valve-based units. Each unit has a straightforward set of controls for input and output levels, as well as settings for Preamp (gain) and Filter (high-pass).
The plug-ins now have dynamic and real-time metering displays thanks to the new Aira engine. They also feature the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm and have lower CPU usage than before.
Amber 4 Ultra can be used on computers with Windows 10 or 11, and Mac computers with macOS 10.15 and newer. It is compatible with VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in formats.
