The newest release from Acustica Audio utilizes their Hyper technology and updated Aria engine to offer an improved version of their well-liked Amber 4 plug-in suite. Amber 4 Ultra features accurate models of Class A equipment such as two EQs, a compressor, and a preamp, with upgraded visuals and better audio quality.
The suite includes two EQ plug-ins called Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. Both have the same set of controls, but the Stereo version has separate controls for each channel. Each plug-in has four bands with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width parameter, while the low- and high-frequency bands have a control to switch between peak and shelf filter types.
Amber 4 Ultra offers a control feature that allows users to specifically adjust mid, left/right, and side signals. On the other hand, Amber 4 Stereo Ultra allows for individual control over the left/mid and right/side channels. Acustica claims that the first option is one of the most powerful parametric EQs with low noise in the digital realm, while the second option is one of the most transparent EQ choices in their collection in terms of musicality.
The Amber 4 Comp Ultra emulates a Class-A opto compressor with transparent dynamics processing using Hyper technology. It includes typical compressor controls and additional features like side-chain filtering, variable stereo linking, mid, left/right, and side signal blending, and built-in parallel compression.
Amber 4 Pre Ultra is a collection that includes eight different emulations of Class A preamp designs, featuring both solid-state and valve-based units. Each unit has a straightforward set of controls for input and output levels, as well as Preamp (gain) and Filter (high-pass).
With the introduction of the Aira engine, the plug-ins now have the ability to display dynamic and real-time metering, along with the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm. Additionally, they have lower CPU usage compared to the previous versions.
Amber 4 Ultra is compatible with computers running Windows 10 or 11, and Mac computers running macOS 10.15 and above. It comes in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in versions.
