Exploring the Enhanced Features of Acustica Audio’s Amber 4 Ultra Plug-In Suite: A Review

  • by

You have arrived at the Amber 4 Ultra plug-in suite by Acustica Audio.

Acustica Audio has released a new version of their Amber 4 plug-in suite called Amber 4 Ultra. This updated version utilizes their Hyper technology and Aria engine to offer improved graphics and audio performance. It includes faithful models of Class A gear such as EQs, a compressor, and a preamp.

The suite includes two EQ plug-ins, Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra, both offering a set of controls. The Stereo version has separate controls for each channel. Each plug-in has four bands with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width parameter, while the low- and high-frequency bands have a control for switching between peak and shelf filter types.

The Amber 4 Ultra has a control feature that allows users to target mid, left/right, and side signals, while the Amber 4 Stereo Ultra offers individual control over the left/mid and right/side channels. According to Acustica, the former is one of the most powerful parametric EQs with low noise in the digital realm, and they claim that the latter is one of the most transparent EQ options in their collection in terms of musicality.

The Amber 4 Comp Ultra simulates a Class-A opto compressor using Hyper technology for clear dynamic processing. It includes typical compressor controls, as well as extra features like side-chain filtering, stereo linking, signal blending options, and built-in parallel compression.

The Amber 4 Pre Ultra collection includes eight emulations of Class A preamp designs, featuring both solid-state and valve-based units. Each unit has easy-to-use controls for input and output levels, as well as Preamp (gain) and Filter (high-pass) settings.

With the introduction of the new Aira engine, all the plug-ins now have the ability to show dynamic and real-time metering displays using the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm. Additionally, they have improved CPU efficiency compared to the older versions.

System Requirements

Amber 4 Ultra can be used on computers with Windows 10 or 11, and on Macs with macOS 10.15 or newer. You can access VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in versions.
