Sugar Ray Singer Confirms Kid Rock Did “Get More Ass” Than Mark McGrath: The Truth Behind the Lyrics

  • by

The lead singer of Sugar Ray has confirmed that Kid Rock's lyrics about getting more attention from women than Mark McGrath were true.

The lyrics in question were taken from a song called "Cocky" by Rock in 2001, which was part of his album with the same title. In those lyrics, Rock proudly declares his identity as Kid Rock from the old school and boasts about having more money than the band Matchbox Twenty and getting more attention from women than Mark McGrath.

How was the question that had been around for over twenty years finally resolved? It all began when Rock Feed posted on social media asking if Kid Rock had really been more successful with women than Mark McGrath.

Shortly after that, Finn McKenty, a well-known YouTuber, proposed that Mark McGrath should intervene to resolve the argument, and he also mentioned and tagged the lead singer of Sugar Ray.

McGrath responded to the question with a sense of humor and confirmed that the person in question did indeed rhyme "ass" with "McGrath." This response was shared through X, which was formerly known as Twitter.

If you were curious, Matchbox Twenty has not responded to Rock's claim. It would be interesting to compare the financial success of both bands, as they have been successful in four decades.
