Exploring Acustica Audio’s Enhanced Amber 4 Ultra Plug-In Suite: EQ, Compressor, and Preamp Features Unveiled

  • by

You have arrived at the Amber 4 Ultra plug-in suite created by Acustica Audio.

The newest release from Acustica Audio utilizes their Hyper technology and new Aria engine to upgrade their well-known Amber 4 plug-in suite. Amber 4 Ultra offers accurate representations of Class A equipment, such as EQs, a compressor, and preamp, with improved graphics and audio quality.

The suite contains two EQ plug-ins called Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. They both have the same controls, but the Stereo version has separate controls for each channel. Each plug-in has four bands with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width parameter, while the low- and high-frequency bands have a control to switch between peak and shelf filter types.

Amber 4 Ultra has a continuous control that allows you to adjust mid, left/right, and side signals, while Amber4 Stereo Ultra allows you to control the left/mid and right/side channels individually. Acustica claims that the former is a highly powerful parametric EQ with low noise in the digital realm, and they assure that the latter is one of the most transparent EQ options in their collection in terms of musical quality.

The Amber 4 Comp Ultra simulates a Class-A opto compressor using Hyper technology to create a transparent dynamics processor. It includes typical compressor controls as well as extra features like side-chain filtering, adjustable stereo linking, a mix control for mid, left/right, and side signals, and built-in parallel compression.

The Amber 4 Pre Ultra offers a variety of Class A preamp designs, including both solid-state and valve-based units. Each unit has a straightforward set of controls for input and output levels, as well as preamp gain and high-pass filter adjustments.

The latest Aira engine has improved the plug-ins by adding dynamic and real-time metering displays and the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm. Additionally, the plug-ins now use less CPU power than before.

System Requirements

Amber 4 Ultra is compatible with computers that have Windows 10 or 11, or Macs with macOS 10.15 or newer. Users can choose from VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in versions.

Availability and Pricing

The Amber 4 Ultra is currently on the market and is being sold at a special introductory price of €89 until February 26, 2024. After this date, the price will increase to €209.
