Exploring the Enhanced Audio Performance of Acustica Audio’s Amber 4 Ultra Plug-in Suite with Hyper Technology and Aria Engine

  • by

You have arrived at the Amber 4 Ultra plug-in suite created by Acustica Audio.

Acustica Audio has introduced a new version of their Amber 4 plug-in suite called Amber 4 Ultra, which utilizes their Hyper technology and Aria engine for improved performance. This updated suite includes accurate models of Class A equipment such as EQs, a compressor, and a preamp, with upgraded visuals and audio quality.

The suite includes two EQ plug-ins called Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. They both have the same controls, but the Stereo version has separate controls for each channel. Each plug-in has four bands with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width parameter, while the low- and high-frequency bands have a control that allows you to switch between peak and shelf filter types.

Amber 4 Ultra offers a continuous control feature that allows users to focus on mid, left/right, and side signals. On the other hand, Amber 4 Stereo Ultra provides separate control over the left/mid and right/side channels. Acustica claims that the first option is one of the most powerful parametric EQs with low noise in the digital realm. They also state that the latter is one of the most musically transparent EQ choices in their lineup.

The Amber 4 Comp Ultra emulates a Class-A opto compressor using Hyper technology to create a dynamics processor that maintains transparency. It includes typical compressor controls as well as additional features like side-chain filtering, stereo linking options, and controls for blending mid, left/right, and side signals. Additionally, it has built-in parallel compression functionality.

Amber 4 Pre Ultra is the final part of the collection and features eight emulations of Class A preamp designs. The collection includes both solid-state and valve-based units, each with basic controls for input and output levels, as well as Preamp (gain) and Filter (high-pass) adjustments.

With the introduction of the Aira engine, all plug-ins now have the capability to display dynamic and real-time metering, along with the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm. Additionally, they use less CPU power than previous versions.

System Requirements

Amber 4 Ultra can be used on computers that run Windows 10 or 11, and on Mac computers running macOS 10.15 or newer. You can use VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX versions of the plug-in.

The Amber 4 Ultra is currently on sale for €89 until February 26, 2024, and will then be priced at €209. It is available for purchase now.
