Sennheiser Unveils HD 490 PRO Headphones: A Game-Changer for Modern Music Production

  • by

Sennheiser has just released the HD 490 PRO headphones.

Sennheiser has introduced the HD 490 PRO headphones, which they say provide outstanding clarity, comfort, and reliability. These headphones are designed to meet the needs of contemporary music production.

The HD 490 PRO series guarantees a natural and accurate sound reproduction without any added coloration, covering the full range of audio frequencies from 5Hz to 36.1kHz (-10dB). These headphones come with two sets of ear pads tailored for producing and mixing music, which helps reduce ear fatigue and enables precise frequency identification during critical listening tasks.

The HD 490 PRO headphones are designed with an open-back style and feature neodymium magnets and Sennheiser's unique low-frequency cylinder system. This design aims to provide a rich, precise, and clear low end sound, as well as the capability to capture low frequencies accurately.

Sennheiser created these headphones with a focus on comfort, ensuring they are lightweight and flexible to reduce pressure points during long studio sessions. The Open-frame Architecture used in the HD 490 PRO series helps to minimize sound distortion and resonance for improved audio quality.

The headphones come with a plug-in called Dear Reality dearVR MIX-SE, which uses spatial audio technology to create a virtual mixing environment. This environment simulates the sound characteristics of different real-world mix studios and locations when using headphone monitors.

The HD 490 PRO Plus comes with a longer cable, an extra cushion for the headband, and a carrying case.

There are two options in the HD 490 PRO series – the HD 490 PRO and HD 490 PRO Plus. Both versions come with the HD 490 PRO headphones, a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter, a 1.8 m cable, mixing and producing ear pads. The HD 490 PRO Plus also includes an extra headband pad, a 3 m cable, and a case.

The Sennheiser HD 490 PRO headphones are currently on the market, with the PRO version priced at $399£349 and the PRO Plus version priced at $479£399.
