Eric Church and Morgan Wallen have taken on a new role as the owners of 'Field & Stream' magazine.
Eric Church and Morgan Wallen, both country singers, have made a move into the publishing industry by acquiring Field & Stream magazine. They have plans to revive the brand as a print magazine, a website, and an apparel company. Additionally, they have intentions to organize a live music festival. This venture puts them in competition with the famous publishing tycoon William Randolph Hearst.
The "Field & Stream 1871 Club" offers subscribers three different membership options, which range in price from $15 to $95 per year. Each membership tier includes online access to new articles about hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities, as well as access to the F&S archives. Subscribers who choose the top two tiers will also receive a print magazine from Field & Stream, which is published twice a year and measures 11 x 14 inches. Additionally, members will have access to exclusive accessories like bandannas and hats, and will have the opportunity to attend live events and purchase products before the general public. This may even include the chance to buy tickets to a music festival featuring the new owners, although this has not been confirmed.
Church and Wallen have partnered with a group of investors to acquire the Field & Stream retail brand from Dick's Sporting Goods, as well as the media component from digital media company Recurrent.
Church stated that his grandfather used to keep some of his favorite Field & Stream magazines on the dashboard of his truck, and he fondly remembers them being like his guiding principles. He feels privileged to be entrusted with the task of continuing this legacy, as it is not only a responsibility towards an iconic American publication but also towards the memory of a young boy sitting in his grandfather's truck. These factors will serve as the guiding force behind their actions.
Wallen expressed his love for spending time with friends in various outdoor activities such as sitting around a campfire, being on a boat, or sitting in a deer stand. He believes that Field & Stream represents all of these activities, and he is thrilled to be a part of its future. Wallen aims to continue bringing people together outdoors and creating lasting memories for future generations.
