  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a contest to find individuals who resemble her. If you happen to have a strong resemblance to Dolly Parton, regardless of which phase of her career, she might consider selecting you for a Broadway musical based on her life.

Yes, it is true. Parton is currently in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.

She expresses that a major goal she has had for a long time is to go on Broadway and have her own show there. It is something she really wants to accomplish while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.

In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to invite individuals from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly. This includes not only those who have extensive experience in musical theater.

Parton mentions that she could possibly lead a contest called "Finding Dolly," which aims to discover talented individuals for three different versions of the main character. These versions include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly.

"We will be conducting auditions and exploring various methods to discover talented individuals. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for the audience," Parton explains. "It's exciting because you never know where you will stumble upon hidden talent. These individuals might have never performed on stage before or may have only participated in local theater productions, but we are determined to search for them and make it an enjoyable experience."

Dolly Parton has mentioned the idea of a musical based on her life in previous interviews. She expressed her desire to have the show ready by "late '25," as she mentioned in her recent conversation with People magazine.

The renowned country singer has a number of career aspirations that she is actively pursuing. Parton shared with Taste of Country in January that she also has plans to establish her own television network in the near future.
