  • by

There are 40 pictures available of a young George Strait, who has been involved in the country music industry for over four decades. Surprisingly, the singer didn't develop a passion for country music until his time in high school.

The now-famous individual was born on May 18, 1952, in Poteet, Texas. He was the child of Doris and John Strait. During his teenage years, he developed a strong interest in news radio and the farmer's report. This passion stemmed from his family's ownership of a large ranch, where he frequently assisted and thus, desired to remain well-informed.

Strait's journey in the music industry began during his time as a student at Pearsall High School. He participated in a rock 'n roll garage band called the Stoics. Even when he started college, he continued pursuing his passion for music by becoming the vocalist for the country band Stoney Ridge. He discovered this opportunity after seeing a flyer on campus that the band had put up, searching for a new singer.

After assuming the role of the lead singer, Strait took charge by giving the group a new name, the Ace in the Hole Band. Under his guidance, the band began performing at various honky-tonks and bars located in the southern and central regions of Texas.

Back in 1981, MCA Records approached Strait and he agreed to sign with them. He then released his debut single, titled "Unwound." This song achieved significant commercial success, reaching the Top 10 charts in the country music genre during that period.

After achieving more success, Strait made the decision to explore acting. In 1982, he secured a role in the film "The Soldier." Following this, he made appearances in a couple of other movies, with "Pure Country" being particularly notable. Additionally, he lent his voice to a character in the animated series "King of the Hill."

This popular country singer had become unstoppable, and by the 1990s, he had become extremely well-known and earned the enduring title of King of Country Music.

Strait has achieved over 60 songs that have reached the number one spot in his career and has sold millions of records around the world.
