The arrest occurred after an alleged altercation between Young and an agent representing the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Based on the arrest documents Rolling Stone obtained, Young, who is 38 years old, was accused of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
The situation seems to have started when the TABC conducted a regular inspection to ensure that people at bars on Demonbreun Hill in Nashville had proper identification and licenses. During this inspection, the TABC asked patrons at Tin Roof bar to show their IDs, and Young voluntarily presented his. However, instead of simply complying, Young proceeded to inquire and record the actions of the TABC agents.

At the bar, Young allegedly prevented one of the agents from leaving by blocking their path and then proceeded to strike the agent on the shoulder.
