Hayden Panettiere, known for her role in the hit TV show Nashville, recently opened up about her experience on set, revealing that filming the show was an incredibly distressing and traumatic experience for her. Despite achieving great success in her career through the show, Panettiere now reflects on the toll it took on her well-being.
Actress Panettiere played the role of Juliette Barnes, a country star, in the TV show Nashville from 2012 to 2018. Throughout her career, she has been honest about her battles with alcohol, opioids, and post-partum depression. In a recent interview with the Messenger, she reveals that the show's writers drew heavily from her personal experiences to develop her character's storylines, which added an extra layer of challenge to the filming process.
According to Panettiere, right from the start, it felt like they were copying her life for the show. For example, when Juliette dates a football player just like she was dating one in real life. Then they made Juliette into an alcoholic, which was also similar to what Panettiere was going through at the time. They also had her character leave her daughter and go to Europe, which seemed like they were not being creative and just taking elements from her life. It seemed like they weren't doing their research and were simply putting their own spin on her experiences. And just like that, the storyline was done.
Panettiere expressed that her time on the show Nashville was fulfilling in terms of her career. However, she also mentioned that it was a distressing experience for her as she felt like she was reliving her own personal life through her character.
Panettiere is planning to go on a tour called "A Conversation With Hayden Panettiere" that aims to inspire and support individuals facing similar challenges as she has.
