Country singer Morgan Wallen expresses anger towards his former managers for releasing his old music without his permission. In response, he retaliates by releasing a new song.
Country artist Morgan Wallen released a new song called "Spin You Around (1/24)" on Friday as a response to his former managers allegedly releasing old songs without his consent. Wallen took to Instagram on Thursday to explain the situation to his fans in a lengthy post.
In 2014, Wallen moved to Florida with the intention of writing and recording his own music. This decision ultimately resulted in him signing a recording deal and an artist management deal. However, Wallen now deeply regrets entering into the artist management deal, as he did not seek legal advice before signing the agreements.
According to him, they created a total of 13 songs. While some of them were decent, the majority turned out to be terrible since he was still in the process of honing his writing skills and figuring everything out. It's important to note that he wasn't the sole collaborator, which means that many of these songs were not his own ideas and did not meet his personal standards.
The singer has stated that the outcome of those recording sessions was an EP called Stand Alone, consisting of five tracks. One of the songs from the EP, titled "Spin You Around," gained popularity among fans. Now, after 10 years, Wallen reveals that his former colleagues are planning to release the original EP again, along with eight previously unreleased songs.
This is a post that can be seen on the Instagram account of Morgan Wallen. The post is shared by Morgan Wallen himself.
Wallen expressed his disgust and disdain for the situation, describing it as a manifestation of the music industry's exploitative and unethical practices that can strip artists of their artistic integrity and passion.
Wallen has responded to the controversy by announcing that he will be re-recording his song "Spin You Around." In addition, he will be donating $100,000 from his foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This organization in Tennessee offers legal assistance to artists. Wallen hopes that his actions will inspire young musicians to understand that they should never have to sacrifice their creative freedom for opportunities in the music industry.

The country singer also urged his followers to disregard any unauthorized music that may be released, and stated that he will begin working on his next project at the end of February. "I feel uncomfortable when I listen to these songs, and I am genuinely worried that my fans might mistakenly believe that these are new releases from me," he expressed. "Rest assured, when new music is ready, you will hear it directly from me."
Wallen revealed that he wrote his Instagram post about "Spin You Around" during a duck-hunting trip. In addition, he made an announcement today about his collaboration with Eric Church in purchasing Field & Stream magazine. Together, they plan to revive the brand by introducing a new website, membership packages, and hosting a live music festival.
