Charley Crockett has taken a break from releasing records for a whole 16 months. While this may seem short compared to other artists' album release cycles, it's actually a significant break for Crockett. In the span of five years, from 2018 to 2022, the Texas singer-songwriter released an impressive nine records.

Cowboy Crockett's upcoming album, $10 Cowboy, has generated a lot of anticipation due to several factors, including the long period of anticipation for its release. Crockett himself described the album as a heartfelt tribute to his homeland, reflecting his wanderings and experiences.

"I have written this material in various places such as truck stops, casinos, and even in the alleys behind venues. Sometimes, I write it while sitting in my truck parked on South Congress in Austin," he explained. "As someone who constantly moves around and experiences different aspects of life, I believe I am in a unique position to share my perspective on America."

Crockett has consistently incorporated America as a recurring theme in his work. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2021, he revealed that his song "Music City, U.S.A." also indirectly addresses the United States.

Collaborating with Billy Horton, Crockett has created the lead track for his album " $10 Cowboy" that exemplifies his characteristic style of gritty and authentic depictions of the working class. Crockett and his band are set to perform the song for the first time on Jimmy Kimmel Live! during Monday night's show.

According to Crockett, being on the road allows you to directly witness how different types of Americans perceive themselves as facing significant struggles. This includes individuals like the roughneck working in the oil and gas fields in West Texas, single mothers raising children on their own, and young men who feel like they have no other choice but to work on street corners. Crockett acknowledges that he can see a common thread among them – they all feel invisible. He is deeply affected by the internal battles they are fighting and how they have become trapped by society's perception of them.
