Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you closely resemble Dolly Parton, no matter which phase of her career, she may be interested in selecting you to be a part of a Broadway musical that portrays her life.
Indeed, Parton has confirmed that she is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical. She shared this information with People magazine.
She expresses that her desire to go to Broadway and debut her own show has been a significant goal for a long time. She emphasizes that it is the one achievement she wants to ensure she accomplishes while she is still alive and able to be actively involved in it.
By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make decisions that involve creativity. One of these decisions is to open up casting to potential Dollys from various backgrounds, rather than only considering individuals with extensive experience in musical theater.
Parton suggests that she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they would conduct an extensive search to discover actors for three different versions of the main character. These versions would include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly.
"We will be conducting auditions and using various methods to discover these individuals. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for people," Parton explains. "It is unpredictable where we will find them. They could be individuals who have never been on stage before or perhaps they have only performed in local theaters. However, the search for these talented individuals will be an exciting part of the experience, in my opinion."
Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life before, casually mentioning it in various interviews. She expressed her desire to see the show come to life by around the end of 2025, as she mentioned in her recent conversation with People magazine.
The famous country singer has multiple career aspirations that she is currently striving to achieve. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, Parton shared her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
