Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a contest for people who closely resemble her, regardless of which period of her career they resemble. If you happen to resemble her, she may consider selecting you to be part of a Broadway production that tells her life story.
Indeed, Parton is currently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed in an interview with People.
For a long time, my ultimate goal has been to go to Broadway and have my own show. It's something that I have always dreamed of and I want to make sure that I achieve it while I am still active and able to be a part of it.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make imaginative choices, which includes the somewhat unconventional decision to allow individuals from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, irrespective of their level of experience in musical theater.
Parton mentioned that she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," which would involve a wide-ranging search for talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions would include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly.
"We will be holding auditions and searching for them using various methods. I believe that will also be enjoyable for people," Parton explains. "You never know where you might discover them. They could be individuals who have never been on stage before or perhaps have performed in a small local theater. However, we will actively seek them out, and I believe that will add to the excitement."
Parton has previously mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life in various interviews. She expressed her desire to see the show come to life by the end of 2025, as mentioned in her recent conversation with People magazine.
