Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for individuals who strongly resemble her, regardless of the era of her career. This is because she is considering the possibility of casting someone like you in a Broadway production that tells the story of her life.
Indeed, Parton has disclosed to People that she is currently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical.
For a long time, the thought of performing on Broadway and debuting my own show there has been a significant goal for me. It is something I am determined to accomplish while I am alive and able to actively participate in it.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow individuals from various backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than limiting it to those with extensive experience in musical theater.
Parton mentions that she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they would search for talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions would include a young Dolly, Dolly during her earlier years, and an older Dolly.
"We will be conducting auditions and searching for them using various methods. I believe this process will be enjoyable for people as well," Parton explains. "You never know where you might come across them. They could be individuals who have never performed on stage before or perhaps have only been involved in local theater. However, we will actively seek them out, and that aspect will contribute to the overall enjoyment, I believe."
Dolly Parton has mentioned the concept of a musical about her life in previous interviews. She expressed her desire to have the show ready for production by late 2025, as mentioned in her recent conversation with People magazine.
The country music icon has a few career aspirations that she is currently striving to achieve. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, Parton mentioned her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
