Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest because she is looking for individuals who closely resemble her in appearance. These individuals have the opportunity to be considered for a role in a Broadway musical that showcases Dolly Parton's life, regardless of the specific era in her career.
Indeed, Parton is currently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.
For a long time, the thought of going to Broadway and showcasing my own show has been a significant goal for me. It's the one accomplishment that I am determined to achieve while I am alive and able to actively participate in it.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, which includes the unconventional decision to allow individuals from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, regardless of their previous experience in musical theater.
Parton suggests that she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they would conduct a widespread search to find actors for three different versions of the main character. These versions would include a younger Dolly, an earlier stage of Dolly's life, and an older Dolly.
"We will be conducting auditions and using various methods to discover talented individuals. I believe it will also be enjoyable for the audience," Parton explains. "You never know where you might come across them. They may have never performed on stage or maybe they have only been involved in small local theaters. However, we will actively search for them, and I believe that aspect will add to the excitement."
Parton has mentioned the idea of a musical about her life on previous occasions. In a recent interview with People, she revealed that she aims to have the show ready by "late '25."
The country music icon has several career aspirations that she is actively pursuing. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton expressed her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
