Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to resemble Dolly Parton, whether it's from any point in her career, she might consider selecting you to be part of a Broadway musical that tells the story of her life.
Yes, it is true. Parton is currently working on turning her life story into a musical, as she revealed to People.
She expresses that it has always been a significant goal for her to go to Broadway and have her show debut there. She wants to ensure that she accomplishes this goal while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
By doing so, she will have the opportunity to take charge of creative choices, such as making the unique decision to allow people from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than limiting it to individuals with extensive musical theater experience.
Parton mentions that she could possibly lead a competition called "Finding Dolly", which aims to find suitable actors for three different versions of the main character. These variations include a younger Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly. The singer elaborates on the different age groups that will be considered for the casting.
"We will be conducting auditions and exploring various methods to discover new talents," Parton explains. "I believe this process will also be enjoyable for people. It's exciting because you never know where you might find these individuals. They could be individuals who have never set foot on a stage before or perhaps they have performed in local theaters. Regardless, we will actively search for them, and I believe this aspect adds to the excitement of the journey."
Dolly Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life in previous interviews. She expressed her desire to see the show produced by "late '25," as mentioned in her recent conversation with People magazine.
The famous country singer has multiple career aspirations that she is currently striving to achieve. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, Parton shared her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
