Dolly Parton’s Broadway Dreams: Why She Wants a Lookalike Contest for Her Musical Adaptation

  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you closely resemble Dolly Parton, whether it's from any point in her career, she might consider selecting you for a role in a Broadway production that tells the story of her life.

It is true: Parton is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical, as she shared with People magazine.

She expresses that going to Broadway and debuting her own show there has been a significant goal in her thoughts for a long time. She emphasizes that it is the one thing she wants to ensure she accomplishes while she is alive and actively participating in it.

By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, which includes the unconventional decision of allowing individuals from various backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, regardless of their level of experience in musical theater.

Parton suggests that she may take charge of a competition called "Finding Dolly," which aims to find three individuals to portray the title character in different stages of her life. These stages include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older version of Dolly.

"We will be conducting auditions and utilizing various methods to discover talented individuals. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for the audience," Parton explains. "You never know where we might discover these individuals. They could be individuals who have never performed on stage before or individuals who have only been involved in local theater productions. However, our search for them will be an exciting part of the journey, in my opinion."

Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life on multiple occasions in the past. In a recent interview with People, she expressed her desire to see the production come to life by the end of 2025.

Dolly Parton, a famous country singer, has multiple career aspirations that she is currently striving to achieve. One of her dreams is to create her own television network, as she disclosed in an interview with Taste of Country in January. She is eager to make this dream a reality in the near future.
