Dolly Parton has expressed her interest in organizing a lookalike contest for individuals who closely resemble her, regardless of the stage of her career they resemble. If you happen to bear a strong resemblance to the country music icon, she may consider casting you in a Broadway production centered around her life.
Indeed, Parton is currently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People.
She expresses that her long-standing ambition has always been to perform on Broadway and have her own show. Ensuring that she accomplishes this goal while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it is of utmost importance to her.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to consider casting individuals from diverse backgrounds as potential Dollys. This includes individuals who may not have extensive experience in musical theater.
Parton mentions that she might even be leading a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they will search for talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions include a younger Dolly, an earlier stage of her life, and an older Dolly.
"We will be conducting auditions and exploring various methods to discover talented individuals. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for people," Parton explains. "The exciting part is that you never know where we might find these individuals. They could be completely new to the stage or perhaps have performed in a small local theater. Regardless, we are determined to search for them, and I believe that will add to the enjoyment of the experience."
Parton has previously mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life in various interviews. She expressed her desire to see the show come to fruition by the end of 2025, as stated in her recent conversation with People magazine.
The country music icon has multiple career aspirations that she is actively pursuing. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton expressed her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
