In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the somewhat unconventional decision to allow individuals from various backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, regardless of their previous experience in musical theater.
Parton suggests that she could possibly lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," where a wide-ranging talent search will be conducted to discover actors for three different versions of the main character. These versions include a younger Dolly, an earlier stage of Dolly's life, and an older Dolly.
"We will be conducting auditions and using various methods to search for them. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for the audience," Parton explains. "It's exciting because you never know where you might discover these talented individuals. They could be completely new to performing or might have had some experience in a small community theater. Regardless, we will actively seek them out, and I believe that will add to the excitement."
