  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you share a strong resemblance to Dolly Parton, regardless of which period of her career, she might consider selecting you to be a part of a Broadway musical that depicts her life.

Yes, it is true. Parton is currently working on turning her life story into a musical, as she recently shared with People magazine.

She expresses that performing on Broadway and debuting her own show there has been a significant aspiration for a long time. She emphasizes that this is the ultimate goal she wants to accomplish while she is still actively pursuing her career and able to be fully engaged in the process.

In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, which includes the unconventional decision to allow individuals from various backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than only considering those with extensive experience in musical theater.

Parton mentioned that she might even lead a contest called "Finding Dolly," where they would conduct a widespread search for talented individuals to play three different versions of the main character. These versions would include a younger Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly.

"We will be conducting auditions and exploring various methods to discover new talents. I believe it will also be an enjoyable experience for the audience," Parton explains. "You never know where these individuals may be found. They could be completely new to performing or have some experience in local theaters, but our search for them will undoubtedly add excitement to the process."

Dolly Parton has mentioned the idea of a musical based on her life in previous interviews. She expressed her desire to see the show come to life by "late '25," as she recently shared in a conversation with People magazine.
