The Trauma Behind the Success: Hayden Panettiere Opens Up About Her Experience on ‘Nashville

  • by

Actress Hayden Panettiere, known for her role in the popular TV series "Nashville," recently revealed in an interview that filming the show had a significant emotional impact on her, describing it as a "very traumatizing" experience. Despite achieving great professional success through her involvement in the show, Panettiere admits that the experience took a toll on her well-being.

Panettiere portrayed the character of Juliette Barnes, a country star, in the TV series Nashville, which aired from 2012 to 2018. Throughout her career, the actress has been honest and transparent about her challenges with alcohol, opioids, and post-partum depression. In a recent interview with the Messenger, Panettiere revealed that the show's writers drew heavily from her own experiences to craft her character's storylines, resulting in a particularly challenging filming process.

Right from the start, it felt like I was dating a football player, and then Juliette also dates a football player," Panettiere explains. "But then they portrayed her as an alcoholic. And then they had her abandon her daughter and go to this crazy place in Europe, and it was very clear that they weren't being creative. They were simply taking inspiration from my life and adding their own twist to it. And just like that, it's finished."

According to Panettiere, her time on the show Nashville was personally challenging because she felt that she was reliving her own life through her character, despite the professional success she experienced during those years.

Panettiere plans to begin a tour called "A Conversation With Hayden Panettiere" in three different cities. Her aim is to inspire and support individuals who are facing similar challenges as she has experienced.
