Despite achieving great success in her professional life through the show, Panettiere opens up about the challenges she faced while working on it.
Panettiere played the role of a country singer named Juliette Barnes on the TV show Nashville, which was on air from 2012 to 2018. She has been candid about her challenges with alcohol, opioids, and post-partum depression. In a recent interview, she revealed that the writers of the show drew extensively from her own experiences for developing her character's storylines, which made the filming process particularly challenging for her.
Right from the start, it felt like I was dating a football player, and then Juliette also dates a football player," Panettiere explains. "But then they portrayed her as an alcoholic. Then they had her leave her daughter and go to some crazy place in Europe, and it was very clear … They didn't put in the effort to come up with new storylines. They were just looking at my life and saying, 'Oh, let's just take what she's going through and give it our own twist.' And then, voila! It's finished."
Panettiere expresses that her time in Nashville was fulfilling in terms of her career, but she found it to be distressing as it reminded her of reliving her own personal experiences.
Panettiere has planned a tour in three different cities called "A Conversation With Hayden Panettiere," with the intention of inspiring and supporting individuals who are facing similar challenges as she has in her life.
