However, not too far in the past, the emerging talent was an average teenager of 16 years old, attending a concert of one of his beloved country music performers.

During the most recent episode of Taste of Country Nights, available on demand, Smith shares a personal experience about attending a Thomas Rhett concert in 2016, which had a significant influence on him.

At the age of 16, I went on a date with a girl to see Thomas Rhett perform live. The concert took place at Ascend Amphitheater, and we were seated on the lawn area. During the show, Thomas Rhett played his popular song "Die a Happy Man," and I attempted to slow dance with my date, wanting to create a romantic and affectionate atmosphere.

Smith mentions that the following day, his girlfriend ended their relationship.

After a moment of laughter, he proceeds with the story. He mentions that about four years later, he was on tour with Rhett and he jokingly says, "I suppose I had the final laugh in that situation, if you catch my drift."

Smith has shared this story with the audience during his performances and it has become a beloved choice among the listeners.
