Garth Brooks, the renowned country singer, once had an impact on the batting stance of a professional baseball player. Craig Counsell, who is currently the manager of the Chicago Cubs, had a successful career as a major league baseball player spanning from 1995 to 2007.

Counsell gained recognition for his unique batting stance, where he held his bat high above the ground, leaving people curious about the reason behind this unconventional approach. Surprisingly, he never provided any explanation for it.

After being appointed as the manager for the Chicago Cubs, Counsell participated in the 2024 Cubs Convention. During the event, someone finally inquired about the reason behind his previous habit of holding the bat at a high position in the air.

Counsell admits that he wasn't skilled at hitting the baseball. He recalls a specific instance during his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers when he was attending spring training but was unable to achieve any hits.

Without wasting any time, I began sprinting towards first base with my head down. The crowd erupted with overwhelming cheers and applause. However, when I lifted my head to see the outcome, I was astonished to witness Garth Brooks making a remarkable diving catch in left field. Unfortunately, this outstanding play by Garth Brooks extended my streak of not getting a hit to 0-4.

The following day, I was set free. I engaged in a conversation with myself, wondering why I was unable to achieve any successful hits. This inner dialogue prompted me to raise my hands high up in the air, and surprisingly, it made a positive difference in my performance.
