Not too far back in time, the up-and-coming sensation was simply a regular 16-year-old attending a concert of one of his beloved country music artists.
During the most recent episode of Taste of Country Nights, available for streaming, Smith shares a personal anecdote about his experience at a Thomas Rhett concert in 2016, which had a significant effect on him.
At the age of 16, I had the opportunity to go on a date with a girl to a concert by Thomas Rhett. The show took place at Ascend Amphitheater, and we were seated on the lawn area. During the performance, Thomas Rhett played his popular song "Die a Happy Man." At that moment, I attempted to slow dance with my date, aiming to create a romantic and sweet atmosphere.
Smith explains that the following day, his partner ended their relationship.
After sharing a moment of laughter, he proceeds to narrate the rest of the story. "After about 4 years, I found myself on tour with Rhett, and at that moment, I realized that I had the ultimate satisfaction," he recollects.
Smith has recounted this anecdote during his performances on several occasions, which has become a beloved choice among the audience.
