Garth Brooks, the famous country singer, had a significant impact on an MLB player's batting stance in the past. The current manager of the Chicago Cubs, Craig Counsell, had an impressive career as a professional baseball player for over a decade, starting from 1995 to 2007.
Counsell became famous for his unique batting stance where he would hold his bat high up in the air, leaving everyone puzzled about the reason behind his choice. Surprisingly, he never provided any explanation for this unconventional stance.
After Counsell became the manager of the Chicago Cubs, he decided to participate in the Cubs Convention in 2024. During the event, an individual finally inquired about the reason behind his previous habit of holding the bat at a high position in the air.

Counsell clarifies that during his time at spring training with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he faced difficulties as a hitter and was not performing well in getting hits.
During spring training, I hit a powerful ball towards the left field. Excitedly, I thought to myself, "Finally, my first successful hit!" With determination, I lowered my head and began sprinting towards first base. The crowd erupted into wild cheers, their excitement filling the air. However, when I glanced up, I saw that Garth Brooks had made an incredible diving catch in left field, preventing my hit and maintaining my streak of having no hits in four attempts.
The people attending the press conference were greatly amused by this story.
The following day, I was set free from whatever situation I was in. I had a conversation with myself, questioning why I wasn't achieving any successes. This inner dialogue prompted me to lift my hands up high in the air, and surprisingly, it made a positive difference.
