At the age of 16, I had the opportunity to go on a date with a girl to attend a Thomas Rhett concert. The venue for the show was Ascend Amphitheater and we had seats in the lawn area. During the concert, Thomas Rhett performed his popular song "Die a Happy Man." I wanted to create a romantic atmosphere, so I attempted to slow dance with the girl and be affectionate.

Smith further explains that the following day, his partner ended their relationship.

We have a moment of laughter together before he proceeds with the story. He mentions that about four years later, he was on tour with Rhett and he jokingly says, "I suppose I had the final laugh in that situation, if you understand what I mean."

Smith has shared this story multiple times during his performances, and it is greatly enjoyed by the audience.
